Nonna Franca

Nonna (Grandma) Franca is a real connoisseur of the big, long Sunday meals that she prepares very thoroughly for all her children and grandchildren. From now on she will show us traditional recipes (and traditional tools) of Le Marche. She is from Poggio Cupro (as the whole Ecco Le Marche crew), as well. Here is her beautiful introduction (the translation follows the Italian part):

sono nata ….un bel mucchietto di anni fa.

Ho fatto tante cose nelle mia vita e quella più importante è stata fare la mamma di quattro splendidi figli e la nonna di altrettanto splendidi sette nipoti !

Alla cucina mi sono appassionata quando la vita mi ha portato a lavorare come cuoca in una casa di riposo per anziani, per rispetto e amore dei quali ci ho messo tutto il mio cuore.

Ora che mi sto godendo la mia meritata piccola pensione, sto continuando a mettere tutto il mio cuore nei pranzetti domenicali per la mia famiglia.

Sono ottimista e allegra.

Volete una ricetta per esserlo anche voi ?

Io la chiamo Torta delle Salute:

Prendere i ricordi,

mondarli bene,

separare i brutti dai belli,

raccogliere questi ultimi in un piatto molto capiente,

andare nel proprio orto personale e prendere tutto ciò che c’è di più caro,

unire nel piatto,

insaporire con una buona manciata di carezze fresche,

mescolare il tutto e condire con tanti buoni propositi per il futuro.guarnire con un bel sogno spumeggiante!

Conservare alla temperatura del cuore.

Hello to everyone!

I was born …. let’s say some time ago.

I fulfilled many goals in my life, but the most important one was being the mother of four beautiful children, and the grandmother of equally splendid seven grandchildren!

I approached cooking and became passionate about it, when life brought me to a retirement’s home kitchen, for whose elderly guests I shared my whole respect and heart.

Now that I am enjoying my well-deserved small pension, you can feel the same passion and heart in our Sunday lunches that I prepare for my family.

I am optimistic and cheerful.

 

Would you like a recipe to achieve such a happy state?

I call this recipe: Torta della Salute (the well-being pie)

Take your memories,
clean them well,
separate the ugly from the beautiful,
collect the latter in a very large dish,
go to your personal garden and take everything that is dearest to you,
mix everything together in the bowl,
flavor with a good handful of fresh caresses,
mix it all up and season it with lots of good intentions for the future.
Dress up with a nice bubbly dream!
Store at heart temperature.
Consume when needed
