Ecco Le Marche

Shaking. Everything around you is suddenly shaking and you don’t have the time to realize what is going on.

Down. Everything you owned is torn down.

Months. Countless time you have to wait before gaining what you used to call “normality”.

Hope. One of the few things that you still have, and on which you can still trust.

Beautiful people. The ones that gather from every part of the region, and beyond, to bring laughter, smiles, hugs, love, music and money. Because also money is important when you have to restart anew.

RISORGI MARCHE. A stunningly heartfelt event, masterfully organized by generous people who managed to ask important artist to sing for Le Marche.

Crowded concert

The 2017 edition was a blast, with more than 80thousands participants, and this year is going to be even better!

Risorgi Marche is a festival IN Le Marche, FOR le Marche, BY le Marche.

The artistic director is Neri Marcorè, a born and bred Marchigiano artist. The original idea was to start to bring back people to those areas that were heavily damaged by the terrible events of 2016, and eventually turned into a full (and rich!) open-air festival. The ingredients for this “solidarity recipe” have been confirmed: free concerts on mountain areas, in the provinces of Macerata, Fermo and Ascoli Piceno, reachable only by foot, bike or horse, from the 1st of July till the 2nd of August.

I joined two concerts last year and I have no words to describe how proud I was. The goal of the organization was to create an event in which local people, and not, could confront each other. It turned out to be much more: an opportunity to revitalize the local tourism, a chance to make our region stand out again (remember when I talked about being forgotten, sometimes?), and a tangible proof of how beautiful, welcoming and generous our land and people are.

On the way up to the concert

The mountain areas chosen for the festival are usually not very crowded; therefore I started to feel the beauty and involvement of the participant when still in my car, while getting to the big parking lot at the entrance of the hiking trail. I left the car there, and was ready to be in the nature for some time. I started to meet some of my companions: there was a family with little children from a far village; an elderly couple who made it clear “we are slow, but we will do it”; two parents whose daughter already participate in one concert the day before with her friends and ABSOLUTELY recommended it; people from the regions nearby; dogs that seeked some shadows; children with their allowded mean of transports: trycicle most of the time. The tracks can be either very easy to walk or a little bit challenging, but the view of the people walking with you gives you a strength that you never thought to have. (Ask Mamma Graziella to confirm).

Concerts start at 4.30 pm, in order to have time to go back from the mountain after the final song, and this allows you to take all the day off, if you can (and I strongly recommend it!). You can walk slowly, look around and enjoy the majestic view of Le Marche, make a stop, have a picnic, and also win the first row in front of the “stage” (also known as: piece of land marked with a rope). Arriving on time means you can also see the rehearsal of your favourite singer!

Laura as Risorgi Marche fan!

But the best is yet to come! Everything you hear, you see, and you taste reminds you of our beautiful region. Indeed, there is a special area with local producers selling their products; what’s more, this year there is going to be also an “after festival” , during which the hamlets and municipalities around the concert will offer artisanal products in local markets, places where to eat and drink, entertainment and open shops.

On the way down

I really felt a part of something enormous: we were all together to show our support to a beautiful region, and its beautiful people struggling everyday with daily practical and mentally problems. The weather was perfect (a little too hot in the car park, but cool up in the mountains), the music superb, the panorama was breathtaking and we could really feel useful! You can also donate money to the local associations and buy the gadget supporting the communities.

Here’s the programme, and what you can do by participating in it!

“RisorgiMarche does not strive to be the solution to people’s real problems, but it can be the basis from which other virtuous ideas can take inspiration: an example of how civil society can contribute – together with the work done by the administrators – by supporting those who, day by day, addresses practical problems.” Neri Marcorè

Che bellissimo popolo, quello dei marchigiani. Auguro davvero che Le Marche possano risorgere, perché ne hanno la forza e la bellezza per cui ne vale la pena non mollare mai, proprio come durante la camminata di questo evento.
